The Chamber of Cannabis Industry Ghana (Cannacham) projects that Ghana's regulated hemp sector could generate at least GH₳12 billion (approximately US$1 billion) in annual revenue at inception.
Ghana's advantages: year-round sunshine for multiple cultivation cycles, lower production costs than greenhouse-dependent northern markets, first-mover positioning in West Africa's 400-million-person market, and an established agricultural workforce. Over 1,000 formal enquiries received — more than 60% from US and Canadian investors.
Cannacham estimates tens of thousands of direct and indirect jobs, particularly in Northern, Brong-Ahafo, and Volta regions where hemp cultivation conditions are most favourable.
All licensed companies must maintain minimum 50% Ghanaian ownership under L.I. 2475 — ensuring benefits flow primarily to Ghanaian citizens rather than being wholly captured by foreign capital.
