How to Roll a Joint — Step by Step Guide

March 2026 · Source: Medicated and Motivated · ← All Ghana News

Rolling a joint is a skill that takes practice. Here is the complete step-by-step method, plus you can watch the full video tutorial on the Medicated and Motivated YouTube channel.

What You Need

Step 1 — Grind

Grind your cannabis evenly. Pieces should be small but not powder. Uneven grinding causes the joint to burn unevenly and run down one side.

Step 2 — Make Your Filter

Roll a small piece of thin card into a tight cylinder about 1cm long. This is your filter or crutch. It keeps the joint open and prevents weed falling into your mouth.

Step 3 — Load the Paper

Hold the paper with the glue strip facing up and away from you. Place the filter at one end. Distribute ground cannabis evenly along the paper, slightly more toward the far end to create a cone shape.

Step 4 — Roll

Pinch the paper between your thumbs and forefingers. Roll back and forth gently to shape the cannabis into a cylinder. Start rolling from the filter end, tucking as you go.

Step 5 — Tuck and Seal

Tuck the unglued side of the paper under the cannabis and roll upward. Lick the glue strip lightly and press it down firmly to seal. Work from the filter end upward to prevent air pockets.

Step 6 — Pack and Finish

Use a pen or pencil to gently pack the open end down. Twist the tip to close. Your joint is ready.

Note: In Ghana, only cannabis from a licensed NACOC source may be legally possessed. Recreational high-THC cannabis remains illegal. This guide is for educational and informational purposes only.
